Austin Dillon gets pole position for 75-lap NASCAR exhibition Clash At Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Austin Dillon will lead a 17-car field to green Sunday afternoon as he drew the pole for the 75-lap exhibition Clash at Daytona.

NASCAR had kids draw for the position for the event, which was open to all 2017 pole winners, 2017 playoff drivers and past Daytona 500 pole winners. The race is divided into two segments, with a competition caution set for lap 25.

Dillon will be joined on the front row by Denny Hamlin. Joey Logano and Erik Jones will be in the second row, with Jimmie Johnson and Martin Truex Jr. lined up behind them.

Kasey Kahne, Ricky Stenhouse, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson will start sixth through 10th. The final seven drivers in the lineup will be Ryan Newman, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney, Jamie McMurray and Brad Keselowski.

NASCAR moved the race to Sunday afternoon after several years of it being scheduled for Saturday night. Rain pushed the event last year to Sunday, and NASCAR and track officials liked having Daytona 500 pole qualifying and the Clash as a doubleheader on the same day.
